* Minca and its surroundings areas is a Birdwatchers Paradise. It features the largest number of Endemic Birds in Colombia and it hosts North American and Canadian migratory birds. There are 628 known bird species in this area and over 70 migratory species. Many of these species cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

    * Minca is surrounded by ancient history and it offers plenty of sites full of Kogi Indian history.
      The Kogi Indians fled to higher grounds when the Spaniards arrived in Santa Marta. Kogis were the only Indian tribe not to be conquered by them, and they have remained reclusive moving up the mountain. However, some of them do come down and visit the area. For those who enjoy treasure hunting, Indian pottery is still found in the Minca River.

    * Hiking fanatics will be delighted by this area’s intricate trails as they spend hours of highly pleasing and breathtaking views. These safely guided tours will be a lifetime experience.

What to do while at "CASA SANTANDER" in Minca:

There is no guiding needed to enjoy a day at "Las Piedras". A large rock formation where two rivers meet . It is one of the most favorite bathing and swimming spots in Minca. A 10 minute walk from " CASA SANTANDER". You will find whirlpools where you can relax and let the waters massage your back. This is one of the main enjoyments of "Las Piedras". There is also a large pool to swim against  the current at the bottom of this awesome site.

CASA SANTANDER'S open view to the Minca River will bring you many days of relaxation and tranquility. Bring a book and enjoy the sound of the river while laying on a hammock in the back porch.

You could also visit  "Tienda Cafe de Minca", and enjoy organic coffee with home made pastries.  It  has a variety of jewelry and  local crafts.
